Privacy Policy

What data we collect

When you use genUine, we collect:

• Your name and email address (via Clerk authentication)
• Voice note transcriptions you record in the app
• Generated LinkedIn posts and your rating of them
• Voice profile data derived from your posts (writing patterns, vocabulary)
• LinkedIn account details (name, profile picture, person URN) when you connect your account
• Usage data: post count, timestamps, subscription status
• Device identifier for anonymous usage limiting

We do not collect or store audio recordings. Transcription happens in your browser via the Web Speech API and only the text is sent to our servers.

How we use your data

• To generate LinkedIn posts that match your voice
• To build and improve your voice profile over time
• To enforce usage limits (3 free posts per month)
• To process payments via Stripe
• To post to LinkedIn when you explicitly click "post to LinkedIn"

LinkedIn integration

If you connect your LinkedIn account:

• We only post when you explicitly click "post to LinkedIn." genUine never posts automatically, never schedules posts, and never posts without your direct action.
• We store your LinkedIn access token encrypted in our database. It is never shared with third parties.
• You can disconnect your LinkedIn account at any time from within the app. Disconnecting immediately deletes your access token from our systems.
• LinkedIn tokens expire after 60 days. When expired, you will be prompted to reconnect.

Third-party services

genUine uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Anthropic — AI generation. Your transcription is sent to Anthropic's API to generate posts. Anthropic does not use your data to train models by default.
• Vercel — Hosting and edge infrastructure.
• Clerk — Authentication and user management.
• LinkedIn — Post publishing when you authorize and click post.
• Stripe — Payment processing for Pro subscriptions.

Your rights

• Access: email us and we will provide all data we hold about you.
• Deletion: email us to have your account and all associated data deleted.
• LinkedIn disconnect: disconnect at any time from within the app — your LinkedIn token is deleted immediately.
• Portability: your generated posts and voice profile can be exported on request.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Generated posts are stored for 12 months. Voice profile data is retained until you delete it or close your account. LinkedIn tokens are deleted when you disconnect or when they expire (60 days).
